Description

The Plant

The Cypress of Las Guaitecas is a highly sought-after conifer among connoisseurs. As the sole species of its genus, Pilgerodendron uviferum is truly unique. It will add a touch of originality and elegance to your garden. Native to the humid regions of South America, this slow-growing tree is distinguished by its narrow conical shape and dense, lush green foliage. Its reddish-brown bark, which exfoliates in flakes, gives it a unique appearance. In its natural habitat, specimens with trunks measuring 1.5 meters in diameter (indicating great age) can still be found today, although reports mention individuals with diameters reaching 3 meters before overexploitation.
